Nikki Fernando won her singles match and also teamed with freshman
Katharina Spieth for a doubles win on the second day of the Bruno Classic, hosted by Brown.
Fernando's wins were the only ones for Rhode Island Saturday. In singles play, she defeated Dartmouth's Lauren Han in straight sets, 7-5, 6-0.
In doubles play, Fernando and Spieth knocked off Liz Fahrmeier and Lexi Dewire 6-1. It was the 40 th career win in doubles play for Fernando, the team's active leader in the category.
Junior
Sophie Herrman was involved in a pair of competitive matches. She fell in a super-set tiebreaker to Elise Wong in singles action, 3-6, 7-5, 10-6. In doubles play, she and
Klara Nelander played a close match against Sam Grosjean and Caroline Lemcke, but ultimately fell 7-6 (5).
While Rhode Island was matched up against Dartmouth players Saturday, there was no team result, just individual results.
