KINGSTON, R.I. – The doubles team of
Grace Darcy and
Anastasia Pettersson went undefeated in three matches and every Rhody participant picked up at least one singles victory over the weekend at the URI Fall Invite.
Rhode Island hosted Bryant, Providence, NJIT, Sacred Heart and Merrimack for two days of singles and doubles action.
Darcy and Pettersson were impressive throughout the weekend. They opened with a 6-4 win over Flora Eidson and Allison Root from Providence, then defeated Bryant's Caitlyn Munson and Natalia Vela 6-3. In their final match together, Darcy and Pettersson knocked off Merrimack's Kiana Thompson and Caitlin McLoughlin, 6-2.
Rhody has one other doubles team participating.
Ava Grnja and Steph Hylton went 2-1 over the weekend. They started with a 6-1 loss to Bryant's Aurora Pedwell and Gia Fenton-Noriega. However, they rebounded to defeat Sacred Heart's Hana Hofmanova and Kailin Gochna (no score reported) and then NJIT's Lusia Hepcal Barcan and Feyza Aydin, 6-4.
In singles action,
Blake Rothchild went 2-0, while Steph Hylton,
Klara Nelander, Grnja, Pettersson and Darcy all went 2-1.
