KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island women's cross country senior
Sofia Piccone earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team, per an announcement made by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
A senior marine biology major with a 3.98 GPA, Piccone paced the Rams at the Atlantic 10 Championship and finished 25th overall. She set a new personal best in the 6K (21:26.9) at the race, helping Rhode Island finish eighth in the team standings.Â
Earlier this season, she won Performer of the Week (Oct. 15) accolades from the conference office after her sixth-place finish at the New England Championship.
Piccone closed out the 2024 cross country season as the NCAA Northeast Regional Championship, where she placed 125th. Rhode Island finished 23rd as a team.Â
She is the first Ram to earn a spot on the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team since Lotte Black in 2021.Â
