How it Happened
Rhode Island exploded in the third quarter to break open a close game and hand Davidson a 61-49 defeat Saturday afternoon.
The Rams (17-11, 9-6 Atlantic 10)Â held a three-point lead at halftime, but outscored the Wildcats (18-7, 8-6 A-10) by 11 points in the third to seize control. Guards
Sophie Phillips and
Dee Dee Davis combined for 15 points in the period, while forward
Mayé Touré added five to account for all 20 points URI had. Phillips knocked down three 3-pointers in the quarter while Touré added one of her own as the Rams outscored Davidson 15-2 from the arc in the third.
From there, Rhode Island pushed its lead to as many as 19 points in the fourth to coast to its second straight victory.

- With the win, Rhode Island moved into sixth place in the conference standings with three games remaining on the Atlantic 10 schedule.
- Guard Dee Dee Davis had a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds. The rebounds were a career high.          Â
