How it Happened
Rhode Island Baseball was unable to keep the Northeastern offense in check, losing the series opener 15-4 on Friday afternoon at Friedman Diamond.
The Rams (2-11) were outhit by the Huskies 18-9 in the setback and held the lead just once when
Michael Anderson drove a solo shot out to left field in the top of the first.
Northeastern (11-4) scored in each of the first four innings to run up 14-2 lead. Starting arm
Connor Grotyohann and relievers
Zach Morris and
Jake Foster were tagged with runs during the spurt, which saw the home team leave the yard three separate times. Rhody's other score in that time was an RBI single from
Rob Butler that plated
DJ Perron.
Rhode Island scored its final two runs of the game in the fifth inning when
Eric Genther and Anderson cranked out back-to-back RBI doubles, while the Huskies capped off their total with a seventh-inning RBI single.
