Rhode Island vs. Connecticut - Series Notes
- Tuesday's game between the Rams and the Huskies will be the 204th in the history between the programs, which dates back to 1896.
- Since the inaugural meeting, UConn has earned a 119-80-4 advantage over Rhode Island and has taken two of the last three meetings.
- Rhody's lone win in that span was earned in 2022 when it knocked off No. 18 Connecticut, 6-2.
- Then-freshman Anthony DePino homered twice in the victory, which was head coach Raphael Cerrato's ninth over a nationally-ranked opponent.
- This year, the Rams will be looking to avenge a 9-0 loss from a season ago that was suffered at Dunkin' Donuts Park, home of the Hartford Yard Goats (April 25, 2023).
- Sophomore Michael Anderson and junior Eric Genther were the only Rhode Island players who recorded hits in the contest.
Rhode Island vs. Stonehill - Series Notes
- Rhode Island and Stonehill will face off for the first time on Wednesday afternoon.
- Effective July 1, 2022, the Skyhawks formally began their reclassification process to become an NCAA Division I affiliate.
- Stonehill now competes in the Northeast Conference, where it finished 10-20 in baseball a season ago.
Perron Making the Most of His Opportunity
- Graduate student DJ Perron has established himself as one of Rhode Island's more reliable hitters in his first season with the club.
- A four-year starter for UMass Dartmouth (NCAA Division III), Perron joined the Rams in the offseason and has made appearances in both the infield and outfield.
- He currently leads the team with five multi-hit games and has reached base safely in each of his last five outings.
- Perron has started all 15 games for URI and is currently hitting .254 with four RBI and a pair of stolen bases.
Baseball Announces Fundraising Partnership with Hasbro Children's Hospital
- Rhody Baseball has partnered with Hasbro Children's Hospital, located 45 minutes away in Providence, to raise money for the hospital during the 2024 season.
- Throughout the year, every Rhody strikeout, win, hit, home run and stolen base will contribute directly to the children's hospital.
- The fundraiser consists of five different pledge levels, with dollar amounts attached to each of the aforementioned statistical categories.
- Juniors Eric Genther and Anthony DePino spearheaded the effort, working with sport administrator Jeff Johnson and members of the Hasbro Children's Hospital administration to organize the fundraiser.
- Updates concerning the Rams' progress on the field and in their fundraising efforts will be provided on the team's social media channels throughout the year.
- Fans interested in contributing to this great cause through a pledge or a one-time gift can do so HERE.
