How it Happened
A late scoring push put Rhode Island Baseball's game at Saint Louis out of reach on Friday afternoon at the Billiken Sports Complex, with the Rams losing 8-1.

Rhody (5-15, 0-2 Atlantic 10) was within striking distance heading into the eighth inning, down 4-1, but a pair of RBI doubles and an RBI single allowed the home team to plate four runs.

URI struggled with timely hitting, recording seven hits throughout the contest while leaving five runners on base. The team's lone run was scored in the fifth when Brody McKenzie singled up the middle, driving in Will Hindle

The Billikens (18-6, 2-0 A-10) took the lead early, scoring four times between the third and the fourth with a string of hits. Starting arm Sean Sposato had pitched two scoreless frames to start the day and then repeated the effort, taking the final batter he faced down swinging to end the sixth.

Rhode Island utilized three pitchers out of the bullpen to finish the game with Jeremy Urena responsible for the additional four scores. Offensively, URI left a baserunner stranded in each of the final two innings.
