DAVIDSON, N.C. – Despite playing several competitive matches, Rhode Island (10-4, 1-1 Atlantic 10) fell at Davidson 6-1 Saturday afternoon.
Graduate student
Nadia Rajan provided Rhody's lone point of the day. She defeated Emma Heiderscheit 7-5, 6-4 at No. 2 singles to pick up her 13th singles win of the year.
In doubles action, the team of

Klara Nelander were victorious at No. 3 doubles. However, Davidson (11-6, 3-3 A-10) took the first and second doubles matches to secure the team point.
Nelander battled Savanna Kollock at No. 4 singles. After Nelander took the opening set 6-1, Kollock came back to win the match by taking the final two sets 6-3, 6-2. Sohpie Herrman also played a tough match at No. 1 singles. She fell to Daniela Porges in a first-set tiebreak 7-6 (5) and Porges took the second set 6-4.
"It was a disappointing loss today. However, congratulations to Davidson," Rhode Island head coach Jonas Brobeck said. "They played brave and believed more than us in big moments. We will learn from this and come back stronger."
The Rams return home Thursday, April 4 when they host Bryant at the URI Tennis Complex. The match begins at 1 p.m.
