How it Happened
Rhode Island ended the regular season on a high note, winning 58-50 at Fordham on Saturday afternoon.

Rhode Island (12-19, 6-12 Atlantic 10) used a relentless defense and balanced offense to build a double-digit lead in the first half. Jaden House had nine points and Zek Montgomery added eight as URI got scoring from seven different players. Meanwhile, Rhody held Fordham (12-18, 6-11 A-10) to 27.6 percent from the field (8-for-29) in the first 20 minutes.

Fordham opened the second half with a 14-7 run before the first media timeout, trimming the URI lead to 43-38 following a Romad Dean layup. Rhody tightened its defense and held Fordham scoreless for the next 8:38. A second-chance layup by Brandon Weston got the lead back to 10 points at 48-38 and forced a Fordham timeout.

A David Green layup extended Rhody's lead to 54-39 with six minutes to go, but Fordham did not go away quietly. The hosts went on a 9-0 run, closing the gap to 54-48 on an Abdou Tsimbila layup with 1:44 remaining. That was as close as it got, as Rhode Island held on for the win.
