Rams Gear up for Trip to Davidson

Friday's game will be the 26th all time in the history between Rhode Island and Davidson, which dates back to 1985.
There was a 30-year gap between the teams' first meeting and the first series that the programs played.
The Wildcats have earned a narrow 13-12 advantage over the Rams, which includes a 7-3 edge over the last 10 competitions.
A year ago, Davidson made the trip to Kingston and took two out of three for a series win. The Wildcats began the weekend with a 7-2 victory and put together a 15-9 triumph in game three.
Rhody took the middle contest 8-6 on an explosive, four home run performance. Current junior Anthony DePino and sophomore Connor Grotyohann were part of that action.
A series win in North Carolina this weekend would be URI's first since sweeping its hosts in 2017.
Those wins were part of a nine-game winning streak that the Rams held in their history with the Wildcats.

Why? Because He Gets on Base!

Redshirt freshman Will Hindle enters the weekend with a team-best 16-game streak of reaching base safely.
Hindle, who did not make any appearances as a true freshman in 2023, has recorded a hit in 12 of those contests.
At one point, he led the Rams with a seven-game hitting streak.
Hindle is hitting a team-best .325 against conference opponents with two doubles, a home run and five RBI.

Coley, Kopack Take Their Talents to the Pros

Last summer, outfielder Mark Coley and utility player Addison Kopack became the first Rhody duo to be signed in the same year since 2017 when Chris Hess (17th round, New York Yankees) and Martin Figueroa (32nd round, Houston Astros) achieved the feat.
Coley was drafted in the 17th Round by the Miami Marlins, becoming the second Ram in head coach Raphael Cerrato's tenure to go in the top-20.
He joined Hess, who was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 17th round in 2017.
Coley was recently called up to the Beloit Sky Carp, the Marlins' High-A affiliate.
He was recently announced as the Marlins' 22nd-best prospect.
Kopack was signed as a free agent by the San Diego Padres and finished the season with the Fort Wayne TinCaps (High-A), where he remains in 2024.
Under Cerrato's watch, 11 Rams have played affiliate baseball.

Baseball Announces Fundraising Partnership with Hasbro Children's Hospital

Rhody Baseball has partnered with Hasbro Children's Hospital, located 45 minutes away in Providence, to raise money for the hospital during the 2024 season.
Throughout the year, every Rhody strikeout, win, hit, home run and stolen base will contribute directly to the children's hospital.
The fundraiser consists of five different pledge levels, with dollar amounts attached to each of the aforementioned statistical categories.
Juniors Eric Genther and Anthony DePino spearheaded the effort, working with sport administrator Jeff Johnson and members of the Hasbro Children's Hospital administration to organize the fundraiser.
Updates concerning the Rams' progress on the field and in their fundraising efforts will be provided on the team's social media channels throughout the year.
