RHODE ISLAND AND ART CARMICHAEL - TOURNAMENT NOTES
  • Rhode Island will host the three-day tournament, which will feature Harvard, Stony Brook and Northern Illinois.
  • This will be the 15th rendition of the Art Carmichael Invitational.
  • Rhode Island has won two of its last three matches, including a 3-1 win over Merrimack in its 2024 home opener Tuesday night.
  • The Rams will face Harvard on Thursday. URI battles Northern Illinois and Stony Brook on Friday.
  • Art Carmichael was Rhode Island's head coach from 1974 through 1980.
  • In his time with the Rams, he had 162 victories. His 39 wins in 1977 and 24-match winning streak in 1976 both still stand as school records.
 RHODE ISLAND VS HARVARD - SERIES HISTORY
  • Rhode Island and Harvard have faced each other five times in program history, with the Rams holding a 3-2 series lead.
  • Harvard has won the last two meetings.
  • The teams have not played since 2019, when the Crimson defeated URI 3-1 at the Harvard Invitational.
  • Harvard enters the Art Carmichael with a 3-0 record after winning each of its matches at last weekend's Harvard Invitational.
  • Both Harvard and Rhode Island have faced Merrimack this season. Harvard beat the Warriors 3-2 last Saturday, while the Rams scored a 3-1 win over Merrimack Tuesday night.
  • Rams Freshman Havyn Rolle had a career-high 16 kills and 11 aces in the Merrimack match. She is second on the team with 18 blocks behind sophomore Chloe Abuto (28).
  • Harvard's Brynne Faltinskly leads the team with 47 kills and an average of 3.62 kills per set.
  • Rocky Aguirre was named to the all-tournament team after registering 11 kills, 109 assists, four aces, 25 digs, and six blocks across three matches for the Crimson.
RHODE ISLAND VS NORTHERN ILLINOIS- SERIES HISTORY
  • Rhode Island and Northern Illinois have faced each other twice, with each side winning once.
  • The last played in 2022, with Northern Illinois sweeping the Rams.
  • Northern Illinois is 1-4 this season. The lone win came over Tarleton State at the St. Thomas Invitational.
  • Northern Illinois' Charli Atiemo has recorded 10 or more kills in every match this season and marked her 45th career game with double-digit kills against St. Thomas on Saturday.
  • Atiemo has surpassed the 800-kill mark this weekend and sits with 825 kills in her career.
  • She is second on the team with 64 kills this season, trailing only behind Nazli Güvener (77).
  • Rhode Island sophomore Madi Disu leads the team with 70 kills.
RHODE ISLAND VS STONY BROOK - SERIES HISTORY
  • Rhode Island and Stony Brook have faced each other six times.
  • The Rams hold a 5-1 series lead with the Seawolves and has won the last four meetings in the series.
  • The teams last met in 2016.
  • Stony Brook won its first four matches of the year and is 5-1 overall.
  • Against Colgate, Stony Brook head coach Kristin Belzung notched her 100th career win with the Seawolves.
  • Stony Brook junior Kali Moore leads the team with 101 kills. Moore is second on the team with nine service aces behind Torri Henry (11).
