RHODE ISLAND VS. RICHMOND - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Richmond are meeting for the 32nd time. The Spiders lead the series 20-11.Â
- Richmond has won the last six games in the series, including an 85-77 victory in the Ryan Center last season.Â
- Forward David Fuchs led Rhode Island with a career-high 23 points to go with 12 rebounds in the game. Guard Jaden House added 13 points and forward David Green had 12 points.Â
- Rhode Island is 3-11 as the road team against Richmond.
- After going 5-8 in non-conference play, Richmond has won two of its first three Atlantic 10 games.
- The Spiders defeated George Washington 66-61 in its league opener and won at Massachusetts 72-64 before falling at George Mason 64-58 Wednesday night.
- Richmond is the top free throw shooting team in the Atlantic 10, hitting .779 from the line.
- URI is the league's top-scoring team at the free throw line, averaging 19.7 made free throws per game.Â
- Rhode Island's Sebastian Thomas is second in the league with 2.23 steals per game, while Richmond's DeLonnie Hunt is right behind him with 2.19 per game. Hunt reportedly will be out for an extended period due to injury.
BLOCK PARTY CONTINUES FOR BROWNÂ
- Center Javonte Brown had four more blocked shots Wednesday against George Washington.
- That came after he had a career-high six blocks in a win over George Mason last weekend, giving him 10 over his last two games.
- The six blocks against George Mason were the most by a URI player since Makhel Mitchell had eight against Boston College on Nov. 17, 2021.Â
- Brown is third in the Atlantic 10 and 24th in the nation with 32 blocks (2.14 per game) on the season.
- He already has more blocks than any Rhode Island player in a season since Mitchell had 74 in 2021-22.
- Last year, Tyson Brown led the Rams with 23 blocked shots, and in 2022-23 Malik Martin had a team-high 27 blocks.
- In addition to providing rim protection, Javonte Brown is averaging 10.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, both career highs. Â
RAMS LOOKING TO SURPASS LAST YEAR'S WIN TOTAL
- With a 12-3 record overall, Rhode Island already has matched its win total from last season.
- With 15 regular-season games remaining, the Rams have a chance to reach 20 wins for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
- That year, Rhode Island was 21-9 heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
- Head coach Archie Miller is looking for his seventh 20-win season overall, and his first with Rhode Island.
- He reached the mark five times in six seasons at Dayton and added one more in four years with Indiana.
- Miller also had a 19-win season at Indiana.
