RHODE ISLAND VS. LOYOLA CHICAGO - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and Loyola Chicago are meeting for the third time.
  • The teams split the first two meetings, with the road team winning both contests.
  • Rhode Island won 79-77 when it visited Gentile Arena during the 2022-23 season.
  • In that contest, Ishmael Leggett (now playing for Pitt) made two free throws with 2.2 seconds left to score the winning points for the Rams.
  • Rhode Island held a 17-point lead in the second half, but the Ramblers ralled to tie the score with 10 seconds to go before Leggett made the winning play.
  • Loyola Chicago is 8-1 at home this season. Rhode Island is coming off its first road win of the season with its 67-64 overtime win at Richmond.
  • After starting the season 9-1, the Ramblers have dropped five of their last six contests.
  • During non-conference play, both teams played Detroit Mercy and College of Charleston. Rhode Island beat Detroit Mercy 81-75, while Loyola Chicago beat the Titans 87-65. URI beat College of Charleston 91-53, while the Ramblers fell to the Cougars 77-68.
  • The game features two of the better rim protectors in the Atlantic 10. Rhode Island's Javonte Brown is second in the A-10 with 2.13 blocks per game and third with 34 total blocks. Loyola Chicago's Miles Rubin is fourth in the league with 32 blocks and 2.0 per game.

CBS SPORTS NETWORK TO BROADCAST THE GAME

  • Wednesday's game will air on CBS Sports Network as the second game of an Atlantic 10 doubleheader.
  • The first game is George Mason at Dayton.
  • For the Rhode Island-Loyola Chicago game, Chris Lewis will handle the play-by-play and B.J. Taylor is the color analyst.
  • The audio call of the game will be on the Varsity Network with Steve McDonald and Chris DiSano.
  • Game time is scheduled for 9:05 p.m. EST, with the possibility of a five-minute slide, depending on how long George Mason at Dayton goes.

RAMS ALREADY SURPASS LAST YEAR'S WIN TOTAL

  • With a 13-3 record, Rhode Island already has topped its win total from last season, when it was 12-20.
  • With 14 regular season games remaining, URI can match its win total from Archie Miller's first two seasons combined with eight more wins this year.
  • With seven more wins, Miller would lead URI to its first 20-win season since 2019-20.
  • That year, Rhode Island was 21-9 heading into the Atlantic 10 Championship, which was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Miller is looking for his seventh 20-win season overall, and his first with Rhode Island.
  • He did it five times in six seasons at Dayton and added one more in four years with Indiana.
  • Miller also had a 19-win season at Indiana.

DIBOUNDJE MAKING AN IMPACT

  • Guard Quentin Diboundje has made a significant impact off the bench over the last three games, averaging 9.0 points and 5.7 rebounds.
  • Against George Mason on Jan. 4, Diboundje hit a turnaround jumper with 22 seconds to go as the shot clock was expiring to give URI a three-point lead, which also was the eventual winning margin.
  • He followed that with 14 points and a career-high seven rebounds against George Washington, and then nine points and nine rebounds at Richmond.
  • Before the George Mason game, Diboundje had not played in the previous eight games.
  • He is shooting 11-for-19 (.579) overall and 3-for-5 (.600) from the arc in the last three games.
