RHODE ISLAND VS. DAVIDSON - SERIES NOTES

  • Rhode Island and Davidson are meeting for the 21st time, with the Wildcats holding an 11-9 lead. 
  • URI is 5-4 as the home team in the series.
  • Last season, Rhode Island won the meeting, defeating Davidson 79-74 on the road. 
  • In that contest, David Fuchs had 10 points and 11 rebounds for what was his third consecutive double-double at the time. David Green made his first career start for the Rams in that game.
  • Both teams are coming off road losses Wednesday night. Rhode Island fell 81-77 at Loyola Chicago, while Davidson lost 79-76 at La Salle. 
  • Davidson takes very good care of the basketball, averaging a league-low 9.9 turnovers per game.
  • The Wildcats are the top 3-point shooting team in the Atlantic 10 at .346, though they average 8.6 made 3-pointers per game. Rhode Island leads the A-10 and ranks third in the country in 3-point defense, allowing opponents to shoot just .273 from the arc.
  • Davidson's Bobby Durkin leads the A-10 in 3-point shooting at .438. He has made 56 3-point baskets this season, averaging 3.29 per game. 
  • Wildcats Connor Kochera (.539) and Reed Bailey (.524) rank second and third, respectively, in the A-10 in field goal percentage. Bailey is more of the focal point, attempting 208 shots to 178 for Kochera. The duo is 1-2 in scoring for Davidson, with Reed averaging 18.8 points and Kochera 15.4 per game.

THOMAS HAS 20-PLUS IN SEVEN STRAIGHT GAMES

  • Point guard Sebastian Thomas' run of consecutive games with 20 or more points is up to seven games, and eight of his last nine games overall.
  • He is up to 18.8 points per game, second in the Atlantic 10 behind Saint Louis' Jimerson Gibson (18.9).
  • Thomas is averaging 21.2 points per game since the start of A-10 play. 
  • Since the start of December, Thomas has scored 20 or more points in all but one game. He had 19 points in a win over Providence on Dec. 7.
  • Dating back to last season at UAlbany, Thomas has scored in double figures in 25 straight games.
  • He has 20 or more points nine times this season, topping out at 23 points, which he has done three times. 
  • Dating back to the 2000-01 season, only three Rhode Island players have averaged more than 18 points per game for an entire season: Tavorris Bell (19.6 over 22 games in 2000-01); Will Daniels (18.6 over 33 games in 2007-08); and Fatts Russell (18.8 over 23 games in 2019-20).
  • In Thomas' first two seasons at Rhode Island, his career high was 16 points.

FUCHS REBOUNDING AT IMPRESSIVE CLIP

  • After missing the two previous games with a toe injury, forward David Fuchs had eight points and 10 rebounds off the bench at Loyola Chicago.
  • It was the sixth time this season he has grabbed 10 or more rebounds in a game.
  • Fuchs ranks seventh in the Atlantic 10 with 7.4 rebounds per game despite coming off the bench in every game he has played this season.
  • His prorated average is 17.1 rebounds per 40 minutes.
  • With 111 rebounds in 259 minutes of play, Fuchs is averaging 0.43 rebounds per minute on the floor.
  • Despite averaging five fewer minutes per game than he did as a freshman, Fuchs has increased his per game rebounds by 1.0 per game (7.4 from 6.4).
