DEWITT, N.Y. – Rhode Island opened the Spring in strong fashion Saturday night, blanking Le Moyne 7-0 while winning every singles match in straight sets.
The Rams (1-0) got a boost in doubles play from the freshman team of
Grace Darcy and Anastasia Petterson. With URI and Le Moyne each holding a doubles win, the deciding match was at No. 2. Darcy and Petterson won the team point and their match via a 7-6 (8-6) thriller.
From there, Rhode Island cruised. Junior
Nikki Fernando gave up just one point while defeating Paula Casares 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Freshman
Grace Darcy at No. 4 singles and senior
Klara Nelander at No. 6 singles had similar success, winning their respective matches by scores of 6-1, 6-1.

Sophie Herrman and freshman Anastasia Petterson swpet their matches at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
