GLEN COVE, N.Y. - Tyler Bruneau rebounded from a tough second round and shot even par on the final day of the Nassau Intercollegiate to lead Rhode Island to the team title.

It was the third team title in five events for the Rams, who finished six strokes ahead of the rest of the field. Rhody posted a final score of 871, followed by Fairfield (877), Army (879), Kansas City (881) and Utah Valley (882) in the top five of the 12-team tournament.

Bruneau was coming off a second round in which he shot 10-over par on Monday. He carded three birdies Tuesday and shaved 10 strokes off his score from the day before. Josiah Tong (plus-3) and Luke Stennett (plus-5) gave gritty performances in the final round as well.

"We got a great day out of Tyler," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said. "He put aside distractions and really focused all day. Luke didn't have his A game early but battled to one under on the back nine. I thought Josiah really sparked us by making birdies on 10 and 11."

Aidan O'Donovan finished tied for sixth overall on the strength of his first two rounds, during which he shot even-par 70 in both. Stennett was plus-9 overall and finished in a tie for ninth place in the 66-player field. Tong finished tied for 13th, giving Rhody three players in the top 15.

"This is a great comeback and a very nice win, but we have one more and need to play very well on a very tough golf course to have the season we hoped for," Burke said. "We are still stinging for the poor round at GreatHorse, so there is motivation to work hard the rest of the week to finish off the fall tournaments."

URI closes out the fall schedule at the Wykagl Intercollegiate in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Iona-hosted tournament runs from Oct. 27-28.
