How it Happened
Defense and free throw shooting carried the day as Rhode Island defeated UAlbany 80-61 Friday night.

After a slow start saw the Rams (3-1) fall behind by nine points seven minutes into the game, URI wore down the Great Danes (1-3).  URI turned 16 UAlbany miscues into a 21-11 edge in points off turnovers.

Rhody also continuously drove the lane and scored through contact at the basket. The trio of Jahmere Tripp (8-for-8), Tyler Cochran (8-for-9) and Myles Corey (5-for-5) combined to go 21-for-22 at the stripe. Overall, the three combined for 53 points.

On the other end of the floor, Rhody held Ulbany to 37.7 percent from the field. While the game never truly felt comfortable, Rhode Island steadily built its lead, getting ahead by as many as 23 points by the final minute of the game.
