RHODE ISLAND VS. NO. 16 NC STATE - SERIES NOTES 

  • Rhode Island hits the road to face No. 16 NC State on Sunday.
  • It's the first nationally-ranked opponent the Rams have faced since Iowa a season ago. 
  • The Rams and the Wolfpack have met twice before. Most recently, the Rams made the trip to Raleigh on Nov. 19. 2023.
  • In that meeting, Rhody held the lead for 32 minutes of the game but couldn't keep up with the then-No. 14 team in the country in the final minutes of play.
  • The first-ever meeting between the two schools was Dec. 29, 1988. Rhody lost, 79-49.
  • The teams have only played in Raleigh.
  • The Rams are 1-1 on the road this season, picking up their first win of the year at Manhattan before falling at Rutgers.

SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK

  • NC State enters Sunday's game nationally ranked at No. 16 in the country.
  • Last time out, the Wolfpack beat Coastal Carolina 71-58 for their second win at home. 
  • NC State opened the season with a thrilling win over No. 8/9 Tennessee, 80-77. 
  • Sunday's game will be the fourth at home for the Wolfpack. 
  • NC State is 2-1 at James T. Valvano Arena at William Neal Reynolds Coliseum this season.
  • The Wolfpack is led by Zoe Brooks and her 14.0 points per game. 
  • Khamil Pierre is averaging a double-double, contributing 13.2 points and 11.4 rebounds per game.
  • It was announced both Brooks and Pierre were named to the John R. Wooden Award Top 50 Women's Watch List. 
  • The duo has also been tabbed to the All-ACC Preseason Team and the Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy Women's College Player of the Year Watchlist. Pierre is one of 15 on the Wade Award Watchlist.


 

SYLA: QUEEN OF THE GLASS

  • Rhode Island sophomore Albina Syla pulled down a career-high 11 rebounds in the win over Holy Cross last time out.
  • Syla is averaging a team-best 8.2 rebounds per game.
  • In Rhody's season-opening win over Manhattan, the captain had her first career double-double, pairing 11 points with 10 rebounds.
  • Syla started her sophomore campaign scoring 10+ points in the first three straight games.
  • This past summer, the Vantaa, Finland native played for the Finland National Team where she was a starter.
