How it Happened
Rhode Island opened its 2025-26 season with a 93-62 win over Stetson on Monday night at the Ryan Center. Six Rams were in double figures, including all five starters.

The game was all Rhode Island's from the jump. The Rams never trailed and enjoyed a 34-point lead, their largest of the evening, with 3:09 left in the second half. 

Rhode Island's defense tightened up at the end of the first half. The Rams held the the Hatters to zero field goals over the final 2:34 of the opening frame. That effort carried over into the second half. Eleven of Rhode Island's 16 steals came in the second half. Eight Rams tallied a steal in the game, with five recording two or more.

Inside the Box Score

  • Tyler Cochran led all Rhode Island scorers with 17 points and nine rebounds.
  • He also added a team-high four steals with three assists.
  • Jahmere Tripp added 15 points off the bench.
  • Keeyan Itejere had 13 points on a perfect four-of-four shooting effort and a five-of-six performance from the free throw line. 
  • Itejere also added seven rebounds.
  • Both Jonah Hinton and Myles Corey had 12 points and shot 4-of-6 from the field. 
  • Alex Crawford had 10 points in his Rhode Island debut.
  • Mouhamed Sow notched five points with eight rebounds.
  • RJ Johnson had a game-high six assists.
  • Damone King had five points in his college debut.
  • Barrett Loer and Jalen Harper also saw action in their first college game. Loer had two points and one assist, while Harper had one steal and one rebound.
  • Rhode Island forced 20 turnovers and held the Hatters to a 38 percent shooting from the field.

What's Next
The Rams head on the road for a neutral site game against Tulsa at Navy on Friday night. The game is apart of the 2025 Veteran's Classic and will air on CBS Sports Network at 6 p.m.
