PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. – Senior
Klara Nelander and freshmen
Grace Darcy and
Anastasia Pettersson all won in both singles and doubles to lead Rhode Island to a 4-0 victory at Hofstra Sunday afternoon.
Darcy and Pettersson combined for their team-leading eighth doubles win of the year, defeating Abigail Higgins and Sabira Mohamed 6-2 at No. 2 doubles. Nelander and sophomore Steph Hylton teamed up for their first win together at No. 3 doubles to give Rhody (5-1) the doubles point.
Darcy and Nelander made quick work of their opponents at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively. Darcy won 6-0, 6-1 against Amanda Kadiri, while Nelander beat Kaitlyn Ferguson 6-1, 6-0.
Pettersson clinched the team win with a three-set victory over Deniz Soyer at No. 4 singles. Pettersson's 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win tied her with

The Rams won despite being without No. 1 player
Katharina Spieth due to illness.
"This was a good win today against a very solid Hofstra team," Rhode Island head coach
Jonas Brobeck said. "We are very proud of how they girls handled and fought through adversity this weekend. Time to heal and rest up."
