How it Happened
One unearned run was the difference in Rhode Island Baseball's heartbreaking loss to No. 11 Oregon on Saturday in the first game of a doubleheader.

The grueling pitchers duel took 11 innings to be decided, with the Rams' (3-2) Trystan Levesque going toe-to-toe against a trio of pitchers for the Ducks.

The southpaw pitched the game of his life, throwing 10.0 scoreless innings while striking out nine batters. He scattered three hits and issued two walks, retiring 17-straight Oregon (4-2) hitters between the second and seventh innings.

While Levesque held the Ducks at bay, Rhode Island faced its own struggles offensively. The team was unable to get a runner into scoring position until Reece Moroney doubled down the left field line in the top of the sixth. The Rams' final big chance came in the top of the 11th when Will Hindle, who had reached on a fielder's choice, stole second and was joined on the base paths by Moroney, who walked. Unfortunately, they were left stranded at the end of the frame.

Following his 10-inning stay, Levesque was relieved by Connor Johnston to start the bottom of the final frame. Johnston nearly worked his way around a one-out single until a costly error allowed Oregon to score the winning run.

Inside the Box Score
  • Graduate student Trystan Levesque faced just four batters over the minimum in his career-long start. He threw 119 total pitches.
