How it Happened
Rhode Island Baseball lost 19-12 to No. 11 Oregon in the second game of a doubleheader at PK Park on Saturday evening. Though URI (3-3) outhit its hosts 13-9, the Ducks scored in all but one inning to cruise to victory.
Oregon (5-2) was first to strike, hanging a crooked number in the opening frame with a two-run homer. Rhody answered right back with a five-spot in the second, powered by a pair of RBI singles from
Adonis Medina and
Jack Hopko, as well as a handful of freebies issued by the Ducks' pitchers.
While the home team got one of the scores back in its half, the Rams re-extended their lead in the top of the fourth when
Reece Moroney scored on an error and
Rob Butler drove in two runners with a single. Rhody's 8-3 advantage was its last of the contest, as Oregon outscored the team 16-4 down the stretch.

- Redshirt senior Rob Butler was 1-for-3 with two RBI.
- Sophomore Reece Moroney was 1-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. He also stole a base.
- Every player in the lineup scored at least one run.
- Redshirt sophomore Evan Maloney pitched the first 1.2 innings of the game, but left due to an apparent injury. He was charged with one earned run.
- Sophomore Zach Morris was tagged with the loss. He faced five batters in the fourth inning and was charged with four earned runs.
- Junior Dorsy Asencio pitched a career-long 3.0 innings. He struck out one batter and scattered three hits while allowing three runs.
- Freshman Ryan Thompson made his collegiate debut on the mound, pitching the final 2.0 innings of the night. He fanned two Ducks and walked two while letting up three runs.
