NATCHITOCHES, La. – Rhode Island got its Spring Break trip off to a strong start, winning 4-2 at Northwestern State Wednesday afternoon.

Jonas Brobeck was the Northwestern State head coach from 2020-23 before he came to Kingston.
The Rams (9-2) rallied to get the team win. After dropping the doubles point, URI evened the match when Katharine Spieth finished off Zoi Spyrou in straight sets 6-4, 6-1.
Nikki Fernando added a point at No. 3 singles when her opponent retired after Fernando took the first set, 6-1.
Anastasia Pettersson won in straight sets at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-1.
Klara Nelander added a win at No. 6 when Northwestern State had to forfeit the spot due to lack of players available.
Rhode Island is back in action Thursday when it plays at New Orleans at 2 p.m.
