How it Happened
Rhode Island Baseball led for all but two innings in a 9-3 win over Eastern Kentucky in the first game of a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon.

The Rams (6-8), whose lead was cut down to just one run in the bottom of the eighth, tacked on five insurance runs in the top of the ninth to secure the series win.

A single from Reece Moroney and a Jack Hopko squeeze got URI on the board with a 2-0 edge in the third. Two frames later, Ryan Henschel scored on a wild pitch before Eric Genther drove in Moroney to push the advantage to 4-0.

While URI was padding its lead, starting pitcher Trystan Levesque held the Colonels (0-14) in check. In 6.0 scoreless innings, he scattered three hits while fanning eight batters and issuing just two walks. Eventually, when the Rams went to their bullpen, EKU managed to get on the board with a pair of timely hits in the bottom of the eighth that made it a one-run game at 4-3.

In response to the push, a pair of miscues and a three-RBI homer from Genther re-extended Rhody's advantage to its final margin.
