Rhode Island starter
Jeremy Urena hurled six shutout innings and a steady offensive attack scored in five of eight times at bat as the Rams rolled past St. Bonaventure 8-1 in the opener of Friday's doubleheader.
Urena (5-1) was dominant, holding the visitors to just three singles and one walk. He retired the Bonnies in order in three of the six innings.
With single runs in the second and third, and then two runs each in the fifth and sixth innings, the Rhode Island offense was steady throughout. Number nine hitter
Brody McKenzie had a career day, recording four hits to go with two runs scored, two runs batted in and four stolen bases.
Scott Penney (2 hits, 2 runs) and
Reece Moroney (3 hits, 2 RBI) also had multi-hit games as part of the team's 12-hit attack.

- Anthony DePino hit his team-leading 14th home run of the season in the eighth inning, a two-run blast. He has now hit at least 14 homers in all four seasons at URI.
- Before DePino, only two players had hit 14 home runs in a season for the Rams. Mike Corin had 19 in 2017 and Addison Kopack had 17 in 2022.
- The Rams stole eight bases. Brody McKenzie had four, while Reece Moroney added a pair. Scott Penney and Anthony DePino each had one.
