How it Happened
Rhode Island Baseball slugged its way to a 16-6 victory over Brown in Providence on Wednesday evening.

The Rams led for the entirety of the game and cranked out double-digit hits for the 21st time this season.

Jack Hopko got the scoring started for Rhody in the top of the first inning when he drove in Eric Genther and Reece Moroney with a triple, and it was all URI from there. Rhode Island went on to put up 10 runs over the opening three frames behind a pair of timely hits from Hopko, a solo home run off the bat of Ryan King, a two-RBI single from Moroney, a Brody McKenzie two-run triple and a pair of RBI groundouts.

The Bears got on the board in a big way in the bottom of the third, cutting the Rams' lead in half. After a hit-by-pitch brought in Brown's first run, a three-run double and a Rhody miscue narrowed the deficit down to 10-5 before a sac fly added one more to the team's total in the fourth.

Genther got four of those runs back for Rhode Island in the fifth when he delivered a grand slam that re-extended his team's lead to 14-6. Later, a bases-loaded walk worked by Hopko and a DJ Perron sac fly put the Rams back on top by 10 runs at 16-6 in the seventh.
