How it Happened
Another dominant start by
Trystan Levesque led the way for Rhode Island in a 6-1 victory over Saint Louis on Senior Day Saturday.
Rhody's victory – coupled with George Mason's loss at Davidson – gave URI sole possession of first place in the Atlantic 10 standings. The Rams lead George Mason by one game, and both teams have four league games remaining.
Levesque (7-1) pitched yet another gem, allowing just one earned run over 8.0 innings of work. He struck out six batters and did not allow a walk.
Eric Genther singled with one out in the bottom of the first and moved all the way to third thanks to walks to
Reece Moroney and
Jack Hopko. A sacrifice fly by
DJ Perron brought Genther in for a 1-0 lead.
The Rams added three runs in the bottom of the third.
Nic Notarangelo had a two-run single to plate
Eric Genther and
Reece Moroney.
Scott Penney followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 4-0.
Saint Louis got one run in the top of the seventh, but that was it. Rhode Island scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to ice the win.
