KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Women's Track & Field was well-represented across the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie and All-Academic Teams, which were released by the league office on Thursday afternoon.
The Rams claimed three total spots, with
Megan Wood earning All-Academic honors while the freshman duo of
Macy Daigle and
Norah Kobaly receiving All-Rookie nods. The trio helped URI finish fifth at the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Track & Field Championship that took place May 3-4 in Fairfax, Va.
Pursuing a master's degree in Education, Wood has a 3.94 GPA and was named the Field Performer of the Meet at the Outdoor Atlantic 10 Championship. Thanks to a huge personal-best effort of 164' 6", Wood won the discus throw and bested the rest of the field by at least 12 feet. She also medaled in the shotput, earning a bronze medal with a mark of 46' 9 1/2", while just missing the podium in the hammer throw (fourth; 174' 2"). Wood was also a member of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field All-Academic Team.
Daigle, a member of the Indoor Track & Field All-Rookie Team, earned her spot in the high jump. She cleared 5'5" at the championship meet for a fifth-place finish. Kobaly was eighth in the javelin throw with a 127' 5" toss.
