How it Happened
A steady attack by Rhode Island Baseball lifted the team to a 15-4 win over Fordham in the second game of a weekend series at Houlihan Park.

The Rams' Saturday victory was powered by 14 hits, with six different players tallying multi-hit games. Rhody got going early, putting up a crooked number in the first inning behind a three-run homer off the bat of Jack Hopko. The junior was one of three Rhody players to go yard, joined by Anthony DePino and Nick Toro.

The offense, which then went scoreless for three innings, was able to maintain its lead thanks to southpaw Trystan Levesque. A pair of RBI hits in the first and fourth brought in two total runs for Fordham, but Levesque kept it at that in his 5.0-inning start.

DePino later broke things up for URI when he took Fordham's starter deep in the fifth inning and it was all Rhody from there. Over the final four innings, Rhode Island scored a combined 11 runs on nine hits to cement the win. The home team did manage to crank out an RBI double and work a bases-loaded walk to tag up two additional runs in the bottom of the ninth before Brody McKenzie made the final out in centerfield.

Inside the Box Score
  • Senior Eric Genther singled twice to finish the game with 224 career hits, the 10th-most in program history. He is the first Ram to crack the team's career top 10 since Jordan Powell (257 hits; 2015-18).
  • Junior Jack Hopko registered a game-high four RBI on a 2-for-4 clip at the plate.
  • Both of senior Anthony DePino's hits were for extra bases, as he doubled and hit a home run. He registered one RBI and scored a game-best four runs.
  • DePino needs one more home run to match his freshman season total of 16. The program record for home runs in a single season is 19, held by Mike Corin (2017).
  • Sophomore Reece Moroney singled twice and added two RBI.
  • Junior Nicholas Toro singled and belted out a home run, finishing the game with three RBI.
  • Sophomore Scott Penney hit two singles, swiped a base and scored one run.
  • Graduate student Trystan Levesque earned the win, improving to 6-1 on the season. He allowed two runs on five hits while striking out seven opposing Rams.
  • With 22 career wins, Levesque is tied for third in URI history. Tyler Wilson (2015-19) holds the record with 26.
  • Freshman Parker Aikens and redshirt junior Brandon Hsu combined for 3.0 scoreless innings of relief.
  • Sophomore AJ Jones was charged with Fordham's final two runs. He walked three batters and let up one hit in the ninth.
