Meus Named CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Linebacker Moses Meus was named the CAA Football Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

The redshirt sophomore from Pawtucket, R.I. spearheaded a defensive effort that held Holy Cross to just 229 yards of offense (157 passing, 72 rushing). Meus had a team-high seven tackles, five of which were for 3 yards or less.

He had a third-down sack to end a drive, one of five second-half sacks for the Rams. Meus and the defense did not allow Holy Cross to score in the second half, keeping the Rams in the game until Garth White's game-winning field goal with 2:23 to go.

Through three games, Meus leads Rhode Island with 23 tackles, including 15 solo stops. He has 2.5 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks.

Rhode Island hosts LIU for its Homecoming Game on Saturday, Sept. 20. Game time is 6 p.m.
