Rams Jump to No. 5/6 in Latest National Polls

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island continued to climb in the national polls, moving up to No. 5 in the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and No. 6 in the Stats Perform FCS Poll, both of which came out Monday morning.

The Rams - who improved to 2-0 after a 31-17 win at Stony Brook Saturday - jumped three spots in both polls.

In both polls, the top three teams were North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Tarleton State. The only other school ahead of Rhody in the AFCA poll is Illinois State, which had 516 points to 509 for the Rams.

In the Stats Perform poll, Montana State - coming off a double-overtime loss to South Dakota State - and Montana are the other schools in front of Rhode Island.

Rhode Island is the top CAA Football school in both polls. No. 11/11 Villanova, No. 18/20 Monmouth, and No. 23/24 New Hampshire give the league four teams in both top 25 polls. Bryant - which beat FBS Massachusetts on Saturday - received votes in both. William & Mary got votes in the AFCA poll, while Stony Brook and Towson got points in the Stats Perform poll.

The Rams play a non-conference game at Holy Cross on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Crusaders won a share of the Patriot League title last season.
