RHODE ISLAND VS. GEORGE MASON - SERIES NOTES
- George Mason leads the all-time series, 10-8, including a 61-50 victory on Jan. 3 this season. Â
- The first meeting this season was Rhode Island's lowest-scoring output of the season.
- Stas Sivka had 17 points in the game for George Mason. He has 26 points combined in his 16 other games this season. He was 3-for-4 from long range against Rhody and is 3-for-14 in all other games combined.
- The Patriots have won six of the last seven games in the series.
- Saturday is the 11th meeting in the Ryan Center. Each side has won five of the previous games in Kingston.
- Rhode Island is 6-4 in home games, while George Mason is 3-1 on the road this year.
- George Mason is on a nine-game winning streak, the ninth longest active streak in the country.Â
RAMS DELIVER ON THE ROAD IN THRILLER AT RICHMOND
- Rhode Island is fresh off a 69-68 win at Richmond in which RJ Johnson hit the game-winning shot with 2.3 seconds left in regulation.
- Tyler Cochran - who was dealing with flu symptoms - came off the bench and had 18 points, seven rebounds and three steals in 29 minutes.
- It was the second straight road win in Atlantic 10 play for the Rams, who also won at Davidson on Jan. 10.
- The last time URI won consecutive road games in conference play was before the COVID-19 pandemic, when it won 76-75 at Fordham on Feb. 26, 2020, followed by a 64-63 win at Massachusetts on March 7.Â
- The win at Richmond improved URI's record on the road to 3-2 this season.
- With three road wins this season, Rhode Island has already matched its most wins on the road since it was 8-5 during the 2019-20 season.
- Last year, the Rams were 1-9 on the road.
- Overall, Rhode Island is looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since beating Canisius and Northeastern in a six-day span from Dec. 16-22.
RHODY DEFENSE MAKES LIFE DIFFICULT FOR FOES
- Rhode Island has held 16 of its 19 opponents below the opposition's season scoring average.
- The only opponents to reach their season scoring average against the Rams thus far have been Providence (90 points scored; 89.7 per game average); Northeastern (77 points scored; 76.4 per game average); and La Salle (79 points scored; 67.1 per game average).Â
- URI is allowing 66.0 points per game, which ranks 33rd in the country and second in the Atlantic 10.
- Twice this season, the Rams have allowed just 45 points in a game, doing so in a 62-45 win over Canisius and again in a 70-45 win at Davidson.
- The Davidson game was the fewest points URI has allowed in a road game in 11 seasons, dating back to a 75-43 win at Southern Miss on Dec. 6, 2015.
- The Rams force 14.2 turnovers per game, which ranks second in the conference.
- Only Dayton (16.6 turnovers per game) forces more mistakes per game by the opposition.
