How it Happened
Rhode Island (5-11, 0-4 Atlantic 10) could not slow down the Loyola Chicago attack, falling 25-14, 25-17, 25-20 for its sixth straight loss Sunday afternoon.

Loyola Chicago (7-8, 4-1 Atlantic 10) had 42 kills in just three sets, hitting .356 as a team. Leyna Nguyen led the Ramblers with nine kills, while Kate Maley added eight. Though Nguyenn had seven attack errors, the rest of the team had 33 kills with just four errors. Setters Mya Ball and Emma Henry had a combined 36 assists.

Set One - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 14
The first set was quick. With the score tied 5-5, Loyola Chicago went on a 15-5 run to build a double-digit lead. Kate Maley and Leyna Nguyen had three kills each as the Ramblers hit .448 in the opener. Havyn Rolle had three kills for Rhode Island, but URI could not keep up.

Set Two - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 17
Cara Richter had a strong set, recording five kills with one error in 10 swings. However, Loyola Chicago had four blocks in the set, and the rest of the offense struggled for URI, combining for four kills and eight errors. The visiting Ramblers also had three aces, scoring in every phase of the game as they took a 2-0 lead.

Set Three - Loyola Chicago 25, Rhode Island 20
Rhode Island led 9-6 to get the third set off to a strong start. However, a 6-0 run for Loyola Chicago followed by a 3-0 spurt put Rhody down 15-10 at the technical timeout. URI managed to get within three points after a Havyn Rolle kill made it 19-16, but the Ramblers did not allow the score to get tighter. A Katie Scherer kill closed out the match for the guests.
