George Washington Starters
Autry, Jones, Aranguren, Johnson, Hunger
How it Happened
George Washington's size in the middle was too much for Rhode Island as the Revolutionaries beat the Rams 75-70 Tuesday night.
The Rams (14-10, 5-6 Atlantic 10) could not contain GW center Luke Hunger, who scored 21 points. He was a major reason the Revolutionaries (14-11, 5-7 A-10) scored 40 points in the paint. Hunger entered the game averaging 6.4 points per game.
Rhode Island trailed by as many as 17 points (35-18) in the first minute of the second half. URI managed to get within four points just five minutes into the second half.
Tyler Cochran scored 11 points to lead an 18-6 run for the Rams that closed the gap to 40-36.
From there, George Washington had a response each time Rhody tried to make a run. The trio of Hunger, Garrett Johnson (17 points) and Tyrone Marshall (15) did enough damage to keep Rhody at an arm's length.
