RHODE ISLAND VS. FAIRFIELD - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island opens its 2026 campaign at Fairfield Friday.Â
- The Rams are coming off a season in which they saw an 8-8 record, with a 4-6 stint in Atlantic 10 play.
- Rhody finished the season winning three of its last four games, falling to VCU in the season finale.
- A year ago, Brinley Myers led the Rams with a team-high 57 points on 49 goals and eight assists.
- Rhode Island head coach Jenna Slowey and assistant coach Riley Smith were both former players at Fairfield. A 2013-14 team captain, Slowey earned All-MAAC honors as a senior, all-tournament team recognition as a junior and three Academic All-Conference selections, finishing her career ranked 13th in program history in points and 12th in both goals and assists. Smith, a 2017 graduate, was a four-year midfielder who helped Fairfield win the 2015 MAAC Championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.Â
HOME AWAY FROM HOME
- With the construction of Meade Stadium scheduled to start this spring, Rhode Island women's lacrosse will be playing its first few "home" games about 45 minutes from campus at Bryant in Smithfield.
- The remaining home games will be played at the URI Soccer Complex as the weather allows it.
- The Rams were 4-4 a season ago at Meade Stadium.
BASUEL EARNS A SPOT ON A-10 PRESEASON ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
- Rhode Island women's lacrosse was selected to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches, it was announced.
- Redshirt sophomore Caralie Basuel was named to the A-10 Preseason All-Conference Team at attack after earning the league's Rookie of the Year honors last season. Â
