How it Happened
Behind a five-fun sixth inning that included a grand slam from Ryan Henschel, Rhode Island blanked New Haven in its home opener 11-0 at Bill Beck Field. Rhode Island scored runs in six of its eight offensive half innings to secure its second consecutive win.

After Henschel's grand slam opened the game up and gave Rhode Island 9-0 lead, Ryan Thompson knocked in Scott Penney to give the Rams a double figure lead. Rhode Island then scored again in the seventh when Danny Leikus plated Brian Connolly.

The Rams scored runs early in the game off of sacrifice flies from Ryan King and Aidan Botti. In the third inning, Reece Moroney tripled into left-center field scoring Penney. Penney tacked on a pair of RBIs in the fourth when he singled scoring TJ Gormley and Henschel.
