How it Happened
Rhode Island plated five runs in the fourth inning leading to a 8-6 win over Stonehill on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Beck Field. 

Trailing 2-0 after Stonehill scored twice in the top of the fourth, Rhode Island answered with four runs in the bottom half of the inning to take a 4-2 lead. TJ Gormley and Brian Connolly each delivered RBI singles, Scott Penney drew an RBI walk, and another run scored on a Stonehill error.

The Rams added another run in the sixth off of a RBI sacrifice fly from Brian Connolly and then added two more runs in the seventh off of another Stonehill error and a sacrifice fly from Adonis Medina.  

Stonehill cut the lead to two after a three-run eighth inning but it was not enough. Jake Cullen entered the game for Rhode Island in the ninth and shut the door clinching the midweek win for the Rams.

  • Josh Kopetski had the start for Rhode Island and threw two scoreless innings while retiring all six batters he faced.
  • Including Kopetski, six of Rhode Island's nine pitchers did not allow a run in their respective outings. 
  • Connor Grotyohann and Colin Maloney each threw an inning an allowed just one hit.
  • AJ Jones faced the minimum three batters in his inning of work.
  • Despite walking the first batter he faced and then hitting the second, Jake Cullen settled down throw a scoreless ninth and notch the save for the Rams.
  • Reece Moroney and Grotyohann each had two-hit days. 
  • Brian Connonlly finished the game 1-for-4 with three RBIs.
