How it Happened
Rhode Island's offensive erupted the as the Rams downed Quinnipiac 17-5 in Hamden, Conn. on Tuesday afternoon. The Rams capitalized on four Quinnipiac errors and notched 12 hits leading to the road victory.Â
Rhode Island's first run of the day came in the top of the second.
Jack Hopko scored when
Joel Collado reached on Quinnipiac's first error of the day. The Rams tacked on three more runs in the frame on RBI ground outs from
Derek Maceda and
Scott Penney, and an RBI single from
Adonis Medina.Â
While batting around in the sixth inning, the Rams plated seven runs to open the game up and take an 11-1 lead over the Bobcats. The inning was highlighted by an RBI double from
Paul Calandrelli and RBI singles from Maceda and
Reece Moroney.Â
The Rams added five more runs in the top of the ninth to extend the lead and leave Quinnipiac with a midweek win.Â
