How it Happened
Rhode Island threatened in the sixth and eighth innings but ultimately fell short as Bryant beat the Rams 4-2 on Wednesday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.

Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Rhode Island left the bases loaded. Then in the eighth, after Bryant plated two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-1 lead, the Rams managed to push one run across on a Jack Hopko infield single that scored Ryan Henschel. After the Hopko single, the next two Rams were retired, helping Bryant escape the inning with a two-run lead.

The Rams managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the bottom of the ninth after Ryan Thompson started the inning with a leadoff walk but Bryant then retired the next three batters to leave Kingston with the win.

Rhode Island took the lead in the home half of the second inning. Hopko hit a home run to deep right field to take a 1-0 lead over the Bulldogs. Bryant responded with a solo homer from shortstop Justin Hackett to even the game at 1-1 in the fourth, then took the lead behind a solo home run from right fielder Hunter Kingsbury in the sixth.

Bryant's two runs in the seventh inning, including another solo homer from Carlos Irizarry, were enough to get past Rhode Island.
