How it HappenedÂ
Richmond used a nine run first inning to distance itself from Rhode Island and take game two of the weekend series 17-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Spiders scored in six of eight offensive half innings and to help take the series.Â
Rhode Island jumped out in front 1-0 after plating a run in the top of the first.
Jack Hopko's RBI groundout to second base brought
Paul Calandrelli in to score. The Spiders responded with their best inning of the day and jumped in front 9-1 on Rhode Island after one inning. Richmond then scored in five of the next six innings leading to its 17-2 lead, the eventual final score.
The Rams' second run of the game came in the third inning.
