KINGSTON, R.I. - Right handed pitcher and outfielder
Connor Grotyohann was named to the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List by the College Baseball Hall of Fame, the organization announced this week.
Grotyohann is one of 49 players from around the country and the only player from the Atlantic 10 to earn the early-season recognition.
After spending his freshman and sophomore seasons at Rhode Island in 2023 and 2024, Grotyohann transferred to Rutgers for his junior season in 2025. After making four appearances for the Scarlet Knights last season, Grotyohann elected to return to Rhode Island for his fourth season of college baseball.
Early on in 2026, Grotyohann has carved out a significant role for the Rams. He has made three relief appearances on the season and thrown three innings allowing no hits and striking out three. He has also made four starts in left field.
The award is named after former Washington State University standout John Olerud, who achieved success both as a first baseman and left-handed pitcher during the late 1980s. He was inducted into the National College Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.
