How it Happened
Late inning comebacks fell short as Rhode Island fell to Brown 3-2 in game one and 7-5 in game two of Saturday's doubleheader in Providence.

Game One – Brown 3, Rhode Island 2
Rhode Island's ninth inning rally fell short as the Rams fell to Brown 3-2 in the opening game of the series.

Trailing 3-1, a leadoff double for Ryan King brought the tying run to the plate for the Rams next three at bats. After back-to-back flyouts from Scott Penney and Jayden Tolentino, Reece Moroney doubled to left bringing King home to score. Moroney was then stranded on second when Will Hindle struck out looking to end the game.

Brown's Alex Benevento homer in the fifth inning proved to be the difference maker in the game. Up until that point, the Bears had led 2-1 before Benevento gave the home team a two-run cushion.

Trailing 2-0 in the fourth inning, Rhode Island plated its first run of the day. After stealing second base, Will Hindle came around to score on Jack Hopko's single to right field.

Game Two – Brown 7, Rhode Island 5 (7 inn.)
Rhode Island was trailing by three runs entering the top of the seventh in the back half of the day's games.

The Rams managed to plate a run in the seventh when Aidan Botti scored on a sac fly from Ryan Thompson to cut the Brown lead to 7-5. Brown then popped up Ryan King to take game two of the series.

Despite Rhode Island's slow offensive start to the season, the Rams impressed in the top of the second. A four-spot gave Rhode Island a 4-0 lead to start the game. Hopko hit a home run and Scott Penney doubled with the bases loaded to score Adonis Medina, Danny Leikus, and Brian Connolly. Brown's offense put up tuns in four of the Bears next five innings of work leading to the win.
