How it Happened
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the 12th inning, a passed ball pushed Will Hindle home and gave Rhode Island the 7-6 win over La Salle on Friday afternoon. The Rams were trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the ninth when Jack Hopko led off with a first-pitch home run to right center field to tie the game up at 6 forcing extra innings.

Manny Santos, the game's winning pitcher, iced it for Rhode Island down the stretch. Pitching the three innings of the game, Santos allowed one hit, walked two, and struck out seven to notch his first win of the season. Connor Johnston pitched a scoreless ninth, setting up Santos' outing from the 10th inning onward.

The game was back and fourth early. With a 1-0 La Salle lead heading into the bottom of the second inning, Rhode Island knotted the game up with two outs in the home half of the frame. Ryan King scored from second base on a Ryan Henschel bloop single into shallow center field. Henschel came through again in the bottom of the fourth. With the base loaded, Henschel doubled down the left field line scoring both Ryan Thompson and King to lift Rhode Island ahead 3-1. The Rams added two more runs in the inning after Scott Penney singled to score both Henschel and Aidan Botti. Through four, Rhode Island had a 5-1 lead.

La Salle worked offensively in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. The Explorers put up five runs in the two innings combined to take a 6-5 lead on Rhode Island. La Salle's catcher, Jayden Novak, singled to short to plate two runs in the sixth and give the Explorers the lead. Hopko later tied the game in the ninth, giving way to the Rams eventual victory in the 12th.
