How it Happened
Fordham used a four-run sixth inning to distance itself from Rhode Island and take game one of the weekend series 8-5 on Friday afternoon in Kingston.

The visitors plated four runs in the top of the sixth and took an 8-3 lead on Rhody. That came after Fordham had put up two runs in the fifth on back-to-back home runs from catcher Tommy McAndrews and first baseman Joey Donnelly.

Rhode Island had made it a one-run game in the fifth while trailing 4-2. With two outs, Reece Moroney doubled in Thompson from second base to make it a 4-3 game. That was the closest Rhode Island would get. Fordham then controlled the middle innings of the game en route to the series opening victory.
