How it Happened
Rhode Island used a strong pitching performance and timely hitting in the fourth and seventh innings to down Fordham 5-1 in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at Bill Beck Field.

Evan Maloney started for Rhode Island and pitched five innings allowing just two hits and no runs. He gave way to Joe Sabbath who pitched the final four innings giving up an unearned run on two hits.

Rhode Island's strong pitching performance was balanced with scoring innings in the fourth, seventh, and eight innings. With no scoring heading into the bottom of the fourth, Rhode Island broke through with a two-run inning. Jack Hopko and Ryan King both scored on a double down the left field line from Brian Connolly.

Fordham made it a one-run game after plating a run in the sixth, but Rhode Island responded in the later innings with insurance runs. In the seventh, Will Hindle scored on a Scott Penney RBI single. Penney would later score on an RBI from Ryan Thompson. Hindle come through for Rhode Island in the eighth with a sacrifice bunt that brought in Ryan King.
