GAINESVILLE, Ga. - Rhode Island placed 20th in the overall team standings at the 2026 NCAA Women's Rowing Championship at Lake Lanier Olympic Park on Sunday afternoon. The Rams tied their best finish at the NCAA Championship in program history. Rhode Island also ranked 20th in 2024.
The team was ranked 21st coming into the weekend. Two of three of Rhode Island's boats finished higher than it was ranked coming into the NCAA Championships. Its Varsity 4+ boat finished 19th after being ranked 22nd coming into the championship. The Second Varsity 8+ boat finished 20th. That is one spot higher than where it was ranked prior to the championship. The Varsity 8+ boat finished 21st and was ranked 21st coming into the weekend.
Teams were on the water early Sunday morning after not competing yesterday due to inclement weather in Georgia. All semifinal races were completed Friday afternoon. Texas won the national championship, topping the field with 130 points. Stanford, last year's champ (125 points) placed second, followed by Tennessee (119), Virginia (114) and Yale (103).

Danika Rogers, Sage Sabatino, Anna Kann, Sophia Thyer, Amanda Cubit, Payton Klein, Maddy Papik, and Emma Larsh turned in the Rams best Sunday morning finish. Rhode Island placed second in the D-Final behind Boston University.Â

Irma Accius, Lucy Lyons, Abigail Galayda, and Anna Smith were narrowly outpaced by second-place Jacksonville by .7 seconds in the D-Final. The Varsity 8+ boat of Lily Stasaitis (coxswain),Â
Bethany Nordstrom, Nora Lake, Liz Mayer, Emma Barnhart, Sasha Hanewald, Sierra Munroe, Charlotte Aeder, and Brigid McShea closed out the D-Final race in 6:19.214, just two seconds behind second-place Massachusetts.Â
