KINGSTON, R.I. -  Rhode Island Rowing's Bethany Nordstrom was selected to Rowing Canada Aviron's U23 Candian Rowing Team, it was announced earlier this month. 

Nordstrom was invited to the national team's camp and earned a spot in the Women's Eight+ boat. The Victoria, British Columbia native will represent her home country at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Duisburg, Germany from July 23-26. 

After earning 2026 Atlantic 10 First Team and All-Academic nods, Nordstrom has assembled an extensive collection of career awards. She is a three-time A-10 First Team honoree and had helped lead Rhode Island to A-10 Championship crowns and berths to the NCAA Championship field in each of the last three seasons. Racing in Rhode Island's Varsity 8+ boat, Nordstrom pushed the Rams to a time of 6:33.123 at the A-10 Championship. That is the fourth-fastest time in league history and fastest since 1998.

Nordstrom continues a strong line of Rhode Island Rowing connections to continue their career into the international rowing ranks. Most recently, alumna Catie Castle represent the United States at the 2023 World Rowing Under 23 Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria. In 2021, Allie Reilly ('19) and Karen Petrik ('19), along with head coach Shelagh Donohoe won silver for the United States at the Tokyo Paralympics. Former Ram Kat Gillies was one of 15 rowers in the nation to be invited to the 2019 US Rowing Under 23 Women's Olympic Development Program Camp.
