BROOKLINE, Mass. (AP) - David Jamison rushed for 123 yards and a touchdown
to lead Rhode Island past Northeastern, 38-24, on Saturday.
Jamison's 6-yard score in the fourth quarter helped seal the game after
Northeastern had climbed within 10.
Rhode Island (2-5, 1-3 Atlantic 10) never trailed, as Northeastern (3-5,
0-4) was hurt by five turnovers.
Vince Nedimyer scored the first touchdown for Rhode Island on a 1-yard
quarterback sneak. Northeastern's Kem Nwosu answered with a 4-yard run.
Rhode Island then scored 17 straight points before halftime on a 33-yard run
by Salim Wellington, a 24-yard yard score by Luther Green, and a 22-yard field
goal by Shane Laisle.
Northeastern's Adam Walter recovered a fumble in the end zone in the third
quarter to cut the deficit to 24-14. But Jamison's 6-yard run and a 38-yard
pass from Nedimyer to Cameron Eberheim clinched the game. Nedimyer's touchdown
pass was Rhode Island's first scoring pass of the season.
Northeastern finished the scoring on an 18-yard pass from Logan Galli to
Dave Klemic and a 44-yard field goal by Joe Connolly.
Nedimyer hit 9 of 16 passes for 185 yards, while Galli connected on 20 of 40
for 210 yards.
