Men's Basketball Rolls To A 93-65 Win Over N.Y. All-Stars In Exhibition Finale

KINGSTON, R.I. - Junior guard Dinno Daniels notched a double-double with 23 points and 10 assists to lead Rhode Island to a 93-65 victory over the New York All-Stars in an exhibition contest at Keaney Gymnasium on Tuesday evening.

URI sophomore guard Brian Woodward also had a double-double as he added 22 points and 11 rebounds. Junior forward Tavorris Bell added 16 points and seven boards while junior guard Zach Marbury had 15 points for the victors. Junior center Marcus Evans pulled down 11 boards for URI.

URI and the New York All-Stars battled back and forth throughout the first half with the All-Stars clinging to a 24-23 lead after a pair of free throws from Darryl Rose at the 6:18 mark. From that point on, however, it was all Rhode Island as the Rams closed out the half with a 21-5 run to take a commanding 44-29 lead at halftime.

URI continued to build on its lead early in the second half, taking its biggest lead of the game at 83-50 at the 4:16 mark on a lay-up by Daniels.

Lamar Parker paced the All-Stars with 20 points while Lambert Shell added 18 points and seven rebounds in the loss.

The Rams open the regular season when they host Fairfield in a non-conference game on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 7:30 at Keaney Gymnasium.
