Box Score

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Kareem Rush scored 17 points and Arthur Johnson sparked a second-half rally as Missouri beat Rhode Island 70-60 Wednesday in the opening game of the Great Alaska Shootout.

After falling behind 38-24 two minutes into the second half, Rush began finding the basket and feeding Johnson, a 6-foot-9 284-pound freshman, for short jumpers and hooks.

They spurred Missouri on a 26-4 run over a span of nine minutes to put the Tigers in control 50-42 with about 8:25 left in the game.

After not even getting to the free-throw line in the first half, Missouri made 11-12 in the final 1:51 to sew up the victory.

Both teams shot dreadfully in the first half, Missouri 29 percent and Rhode Island 31.

Tavorris Bell led Rhode Island (1-2) with 25 points, 14 of them in the second half. Zach Marbury added 17.

Johnson finished with 14 points on seven of eight attempts from the field and grabbed seven rebounds.

Missouri's Brian Grawer hit three of six 3-point attempts and finished with 12 points.
